Job Summary
The Security Project Manager Assoc. (PM) will be part of a team within Physical Security that will oversee scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of security programs, projects, and budgets. The Security PM will ensure master plans and schedules are followed and work with our various business partners to install security technology. The Security PM will work with internal AEP business units to understand their security needs and assist in preparing the pre-project planning of security projects.
The Security PM is accountable for the management and execution of the overall Physical Security project program budget which includes capital projects. The Security PM is accountable for the execution of complex security projects with high levels of risk and complexity.
The PM employs their skills, talents, and knowledge of project management frameworks to assure high quality products are delivered while optimizing the cost and delivery of value. The PM maintains complete transparency on the current state of the project, and maintains complete transparency on the forecasted and actual cost and delivery.
The PM will conduct site visits to various project locations in our 11-state territory as needed. The PM will ensure the AEP safety programs are followed by all security vendors performing working for AEP Physical Security.
Job Description
Principal Accountabilities:
Responsibilities include governance, alignment, assurance, management, integration, optimization, tracking finances, infrastructure, planning, and improvement.
- Governance involves working with the overarching structure, processes and procedures to accomplish objectives, which include metrics of success and deliverables.
- Alignment entails top-down vision, goals and objectives from business strategy flowing through to successful completion of projects for program objectives.
- Assurance includes checks and balances for compliance with standards and vision alignment.
- Management involves regular reviews for accountability and successful management of project, stakeholders and suppliers.
- Integration of components for best fit of components for program success.
- Optimization of performance across program platforms to achieve the best functional and technical value.
- Cost tracking program component costs with overall program administration costs.
- Infrastructure, which may include office, version control and IT, entails resource allocation for successful completion of program objectives.
- Planning entails developing the plan to orchestrate projects, resources, timescales, monitoring and control.
- Improvement covers ongoing performance assessment, research and development of new capabilities, and systematically applying knowledge for program success.
- Creates and assists with proposal development, contract negotiation and contract compliance. Proposal preparation may include assisting with plans,
- Demonstrates awareness of key security trends. Considers alternative courses of action and selects best options according to intended security posture.
- Grasps new security concepts quickly; able to convey these in simple terms, using relevant and meaningful language within the group or during presentations to non-technical resources

- Identifies, clarifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to problems that involve analysis of inadequate or conflicting data. Keeps security as the focal point during all activity.
Minimum Requirements
Education requirements are listed below: Bachelor Degree in Business, Computer Science, Construction or related field, OR Associates degree with 2 years of related business or technical/project management experience, OR High School Diploma/GED with 4 years' of related business or technical/project management experience.
Work Experience requirement listed below: Minimum of 2 years business experience which includes work in one or more of these areas: project estimating, project controls, construction field experience, and/or comparable external experience in addition to any educational experience identified above.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: Preferred certification aligned with project management discipline: PMP for traditional waterfall project managers, PSM (Scrum.org) or CSM (Scrum Alliance) for Agile Scrum.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
- Experience with multiple project types (e.g. construction, in-house development, vendor) is expected.
- Knowledge and experience using multiple project management frameworks (e.g., PMP, PMI) is a plus.
- Individuals with experience in physical security and experience in leading teams highly preferred
- Models AEP's core values and culture traits
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to facilitate cross-functional teams
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate ideas succinctly and effectively to non-technical staff as well as senior leadership

Education: Criminal Justice, Business and Project Management degrees are strongly preferred.
Travel requirements: up to 30% within AEP's 11 state footprint.

Compensation Range:
$70,961.00-88,700.50 USD
Candidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate's ability to work from an approved work location.
