Position Details
Houston Methodist is seeking a qualified and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team as a Charge Nurse. The Charge Nurse will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, effective team coordination, and maintaining a safe and supportive work environment.
Primary Job Duties:
Clinical Leadership:
- Provide direct patient care as needed while coordinating and overseeing the activities of nursing staff.
- Assess patient needs, develop care plans, and implement appropriate interventions.
- Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes, adjusting care plans as necessary.
Team Coordination:
- Serve as a resource and mentor to nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Coordinate and assign nursing staff duties based on patient acuity and unit needs.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Communication:
- Facilitate effective communication among nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
- Communicate changes in patient status and care plans to relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in regular interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient care and unit operations.
Quality Improvement:
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives, participating in the development and implementation of best practices.
- Monitor compliance with established nursing standards and protocols.
- Identify areas for improvement and actively participate in problem-solving.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures.
- Participate in staff evaluations and contribute to the professional development of nursing staff.
- Collaborate with unit management to ensure adequate staffing levels and resource allocation.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum 6 months of clinical nursing experience, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
