The Solutions Architect u2013 Cloud invests in the future of Southwestu2019s People in their guidance, governance, and strategy to all areas of cloud technology used across the enterprise, with a focus on cloud-native product development and operations in an AWS-centric environment.

This role works collaboratively with stakeholders to support product development in the Ops, Commercial, People, and Finance spaces, with the goal of driving cloud technology strategy for successful adoption, long-term operations, and innovation that allows our business and Technology Teams to move faster and more efficiently.

Job SummaryCloud Architecture provides a collection of critical services to the development, operation, and innovation of the key technology systems of the airline.

As a cloud-first enterprise, cloud technology and approaches developed with the Cloud Arch org touch nearly every system in the company and directly influence the operations of our air network and the experience of our customers.

Our role is key in ensuring a successful adoption of cloud technology and a holistic view towards operating a large, complex system in the cloud long-term.

Additionally, we enable our business and technology teams to move faster and more efficiently, enabling the continued innovation of Southwest for our employees and our customers on a daily basis.

The Cloud Architecture organization provides key guidance, governance, and strategy to all areas of cloud technology used across the enterprise, primarily focused on cloud-native product development and operations in an AWS-centric environment.

Cloud Architecture supports the product development efforts of each of our key business-focused vertical organizations (Ops, Commercial, People & Finance), oversees the product vision and strategy our of common cloud platforms and services, and is responsible for setting and driving the enterprise cloud technology strategy for adoption, operations, and innovation.

Domain area-focused architect responsible for defining solutions that align to enterprise strategies and standards. Act as a critical interface between business Stakeholders and Technology Teams to translate business intent into viable technology solutions that enable desired business outcomes.

Responsible for effectively communicating in both verbal and written form to business and technology Stakeholders at various levels and tailoring the content to the target audience with minimal supervision.

ResponsibilitiesPartner with Technology Teams to establish an architecture that meets SWA technology standardsPartner with business & technology Stakeholders to establish the technical strategy / roadmap for a business domain product(s) or product line(s) that will enable long-term business outcomesOperate as a trusted advisor for the business, work to define the business intent and non-functional requirements, and provide a comprehensive architecture that will meet business needsContribute to the growth of the SWA Technology Teams through hiring, coaching, and mentoringPromote architecture technology standards and contribute to SWA technology standardsResearch current and emerging technologies and identify technologies that can accelerate business value deliverySeek opportunities to improve SWA technical competency activelyDesign, build, refactor or operate distributed large scale and impactful IT projects - either on premises or in the cloudMay perform other job duties as directed by Employees Leaders
