Operating Room Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Operating Room Nurse to join our dynamic team at CEDARS-SINAI. As an Operating Room Nurse, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

In this role, you will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe and efficient surgical care to patients. You will assist in preparing the operating room, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available, and providing pre- and post-operative care to patients.

With your strong clinical skills and attention to detail, you will monitor patients' vital signs and ensure their comfort and safety throughout the surgical procedure. You will also be responsible for documenting patient information, administering medications, and communicating effectively with the surgical team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring cleanliness, sterilization, and availability of necessary supplies and equipment.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures by handing instruments and supplies, and anticipating the needs of surgeons.
• Monitor patients' vital signs, anesthesia administration, and fluid balance during surgery and provide interventions as needed.
• Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients, including monitoring their condition, administering medications, and preparing them for surgery.
• Collaborate with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure efficient and safe surgical care.
• Document all patient information accurately and ensure proper documentation of surgical procedures.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing emotional support and education on post-operative care and recovery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or an equivalent qualification.
• Valid registered nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an operating room setting.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, infection control protocols, and sterile techniques.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle critical situations.
• Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) is preferred, but not required.
