Summary


Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating a variety of machines to process material to customer specifications by performing the following duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.


  • Coordinate with Swing Shift Supervisor regarding the amounts of stock required for operations, based on shipping schedules.


  • Plans flow of materials through the department.


  • Review work orders to workers, and assigns duties.


  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.


  • Inspects parts and products to verify conformance to customers specifications.


  • Directs workers to meet standards for shipping quality and accuracy.


  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.


  • Inspects packing of materials to ensure performance levels are at expected levels.


  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of the product.


  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the shop, department, or work crew.


  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.


  • Maintains time and production records.


  • Schedule training goals for each employee and review them as needed with the Operations Manager to ensure the best performance of subordinates.


  • Comply with all Seaport Steel s rules and procedures.


  • Conduct performance reviews of assigned subordinates.


  • Instruct and coach subordinates in Seaport Steel's work rules and procedures.


Qualifications

    Education/Experience


  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school; or one to two-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Language Ability


  • Ability to read, analyze, Ability to write reports and business correspondence.


  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the manager.


    Math Ability


  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and fractions.


  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.


    Reasoning Ability


  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.


  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
