OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Gladden Community House is the settlement house serving Franklinton and its surrounding neighborhoods. The President/CEO is the leader of Gladden Community House, establishing a vision for the community impact that is achieved through the efforts of a diverse team of high-performing leaders, staff and volunteers alike. The President/CEO is the Chief Mobilizer and Chief Community Steward; they leverage the power of relationships and networks, and work across private, public and corporate sectors to improve the conditions in the community as a whole and for the residents of the Franklinton and surrounding community through the services provided by Gladden. The President/CEO possesses a high level of broad business and management skills and is effective at generating resources and financial support from alied organizations. The President/CEO is dedicated to shared and measurable goals for the common good of the residents served by Galdden – creating, resourcing, scaling, and leveraging strategies for broad investment and impact across the myriad of services Gladden provides. The President/CEO is the steward of Gladden Community House’s brand and understands their role in growing and protecting Gladden’s reputation. They are able to remain adaptive, agile and innovative in an emerging, evolving, and growing community with constantly changing needs. The President/CEO is responsible for building trust from within Gladden and growing its relevance in the community. They value networking and strive to leverage Gladden with community presence, relationships, and strategy. They have to be an inside and and outside person, deeply engaged with the programs, staff, and day to day activities inside Gladden while also representing the agency and its mission to the larger community.


 


COMMUNITY AFFAIRS & FUNDRAISING: The President/CEO is responsible for the overall impact of Gladden Community House on the community, with particular emphasis on increasing its capacity to drive the impact priorities. The President/CEO is expected to be an active member of the community and ensure that Gladden actively supports community organizations, businesses, groups, events, and initiatives. The President/CEO works closely with the Gladden Board of Directors and Development Director to craft and adapt the strategy to achieve this increased impact, including raising the funds to support it. They will establish collaborative relationships with other settlement houses and social service providers, securing grant opportunities, securing public funds, managing relationships with primary funding partners, corporate, and individual donors, and building relationships with top leaders in the larger community, including those representing the highest levels in business, government and non-profit sectors.


 


 


RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT: The President/CEO is charged with driving key results in fundraising; to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors and key leaders of prospective new corporate partners; to leverage personal and professional contacts and relationships into fundraising opportunities; and to promote a culture of fundraising in the organization, both at the staff and Board level.


 


STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT: The President/CEO serves as a member and the principal resource to the Board of Directors and its key committees, and provides strong direction in policy formulation and interpretation. They partner with the Board of Directors and Gladden’s leadership team to craft organizational goals and develop strategies to ensure that they are achieved. They ensure coordination and alignment of all Gladden activities in strategic directions in the areas of community impact, resource development, and staff alignment.


 


ORGANIZATION MANAGEMENT: The President/CEO is accountable for building and leading high-performing team members, ensuring that all team members are aligned and collaborating to achieve organizational results. They maintain accountability for the operational and fiscal integrity of the organization within policies set by the Board of Directors. The President/CEO assesses organizational capacity to implement strategies and identify gaps in systems and staffing; directly supervises all leadership positions and establishes individual goals; is accountable for Gladden’s financial viability and works with the board treasurer to manage organizational spending, monitor budget compliance, and mitigate financial risks; and ensures that goals of inclusiveness and diversity among staff and volunteers are met.


 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


·      Undergraduate degree required. Master’s degree in Social Work, related human services field, or commensurate preferred.


·      A minimum of ten years experience with at least 5 years in a management role desired.


·      Direct experience in grant funding, budgeting, and building community relationships is strongly preferred.


·      A history of accomplishment highlighted by achieving positions with increased responsibility and scope.


·      Strong working knowledge of non-profit fiscal management.


·      A self-sufficient, hands-on manager who is knowledgeable and efficient with technology and has a working knowledge of social media platforms along with a working knowledge of bookkeeping software.


 


Salary Range: $95,000-$120,000.


 


Gladden’s  benefit package includes 3 weeks vacation time the first three years of employment and 5 weeks thereafter. Vacation time does not roll over to the next calendar year. Staff earn 1 sick day a month (capped at 36) which do roll over to the next calendar year. Staff have 11 paid holidays and earn 3 personal days a year. We offer medical, dental and vision insurance and a 401-K plan.
