The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking a project lead for the development and management of coding and reimbursement resources and materials for members such as coding manuals, educational resources, and webinar resources. Respond to members, staff, and leadership requests for assistance on coding and reimbursement resource-related issues.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage and enhance the development of non-clinical, educational resources related to coding and reimbursement including identifying experts/faculty, format, and method of delivery or dissemination and providing content for educational resources.



  • Lead the management and development timelines for coding and reimbursement educational resources such as the AAD’s Coding and Billing for Dermatology Manual as well as Principles of Documentation In Dermatology Manual, and webinars and manage online coding and reimbursement resources. Serve as the primary contact person for external departments for these resources.



  • Work collaboratively with other team members by leading content-specific group meetings and provide support in the coordination and organization of coding and reimbursement webinars by formulating logistics and schedules.



  • Develop broad messaging and communications for various methods of member outreach (articles for publications) to enhance member participation in coding and reimbursement practice resource development.



  • Provide overall staffing and liaison services to assigned councils, committees, and task forces in conjunction with the chairs of these organizational groups. This includes drafting meeting agendas, coordinating meetings and conference calls, drafting programs/strategies to be discussed on the agenda, drafting and distributing summation reports, tracking follow-ups, assisting with developing and monitoring the committee budget, and ensuring annual reports are complete.



  • The staff liaison will work with the chair to assure the business of the committee is accurately recorded and placed on the appropriate agenda(s) of the appropriate oversight committee, council, or Board. The staff liaison will develop and maintain knowledge of the committee’s area of expertise and work effectively and cooperatively with volunteers.



Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Minimum four to six years’ experience in a physician practice setting as a coder/biller, experience in a health administrative position and/or health-related association. Prefer six to eight years of experience in coding or healthcare policy.

  • Experience developing educational materials for physician practices such as coding and reimbursement resources, tool kits, eBooks, webinars, etc. required.

  • A prior published author for coding resources a plus.

  • Advanced knowledge of medical coding and reimbursement and practice management issues within a physician practice setting.

  • Ability to apply effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication methods when answering member inquiries and the development of coding educational articles.

  • Strong organizational, time management, writing, and planning skills. Ability to lead and participate in cross-departmental work groups to achieve broad Academy objectives.

  • Medical writing experience is a plus.

  • Ability to manage and execute projects under minimal supervision.

  • Travel will be required as needed (e.g., professional conferences, Annual Meetings, Innovation Academy, etc.)
