The Role:


The Financial Controller at Rylee + Cru will be the senior-most member of our finance and accounting team, reporting directly to the CEO. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for accounting operations, and establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. This position will perform the day-to-day accounting function, with the support of a junior staff member, and be responsible for high-level financial reporting. As the company s financial leader, when there are questions about the numbers, you will own the answer. The ideal candidate will have experience bringing process and GAAP accounting principles to a small to medium-sized business and experience working with NetSuite.




Responsibilities

  • Facilitate month-end and year-end processes to ensure timely and accurate reconciling of general ledger accounts

  • Manage the day-to-day financial operations within the company (payroll, invoicing, and other transactions)

  • Manage, maintain, update, enhance, and customize reporting in our NetSuite ERP environment.

  • Oversee the operations and development of the company s finance department including creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures.

  • Execute reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual stakeholder-reporting packages

  • Work with tax preparers and external accountants performing the company s state and federal tax filings and annual review

  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements

  • Facilitate regular review of actual expense to budget

  • Create a culture of continuous improvement, seeking to leverage technology to streamline processes and procedures

A good fit for this role will have:

  • A degree in accounting

  • 5+ years using NetSuite that includes customer report coding

  • A thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • 7+ years of financial management experience

  • An end-to-end understanding of accounting processes, from daily entries through to executive reporting

A great fit for this role will also have:

  • An active CPA designation

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills

  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent report-writing and communication skills

  • Experience professionalizing the financial/accounting function of a small to medium business

  • Experience automating accounting processes
