Job Description:
The People of Southwest Airlines come together to deliver on our Purpose, which is to connect People to what’s important in their lives through friendly, reliable, and low-cost air travel. This Senior Manager Technology invests in the future of Southwest’s People by supporting the People and Finance Teams with developing and implementing Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) practices. This role is responsible for facilitating portfolio reviews, organizing agendas and meetings, coordinating and updating various Teams on progress and delivery, and helping guide and enforce the LPM processes. The Senior Manager Technology is a strong communicator (verbally and written) who’s agile and detail-oriented and enjoys working in a dynamic environment to provide efficient and effective solutions to drive the future of Technology at Southwest.
People & Finance Agile PMO
This role is responsible for helping drive and shape how we work more efficiently across the People and Finance portfolio. We are partnering with our Business Co-Hearts to continue our SAFe/Agile journey as we establish and implement Lean Portfolio practices.
Familiarity with SAFe and Lean Portfolio Management practices are beneficial, but the core competencies of the ideal candidate will be collaboration, organization, communication, self-initiative with a focus on culture. We are partnering across both cloud and on-premise technology Teams to create a consistent experience. On this Team, there is always something new to learn and every member of the Team has a voice in what direction we head. We work hard, but we also like to have fun.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Lead the resolution of organization, team and individual issues, making appropriate decision
Develop and execute strategies and processes to improve performance and the value of products and services provided
Lead cross-functional Teams to deliver solutions and services to meet enterprise needs
Provide Technical thought Leadership related to assigned functional areas
Deliver technology solutions using best practices to achieve maximum Team productivity while delivering high quality products
Stay abreast of emerging trends, processes, and solutions related to assigned responsibilities
Build strong, collaborative relationships and credibility while influencing and driving change across respective Business and Technology Teams
Work with Technology and business partners to measure financial benefits and demonstrable business value
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Preferred: Knowledge of Lean Management Portfolio (LMP) processes and executing within Scaled Agile (SAFe) is preferred but not required.
Advanced knowledge of business/Leadership principals, including planning, organizing, directing, developing, and supervising
Advanced knowledge of personnel practices and regulations
Advanced knowledge of software development practices, concepts, methodologies, tools and trends
Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies
Skilled in excellent partnering, negotiation and communication in order to facilitate interactions with business Customers and technology teams
Ability to provide tactical leadership for Team(s)
Ability to use appropriate motivation and influence techniques to achieve desired Team results
Ability to set and manage stakeholder expectations
Ability to deliver quality projects on time and within budget
Ability to manage projects using the organization's project management methodology
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Required: Required: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field and/or equivalent formal training
Experience
Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
A Business and/or Information Technology environment
Leading teams and providing work direction
Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
Air travel with frequent overnight stays required
Ability to work extended hours as needed
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $166,850 per year to $185,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
