Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialities medical center. We have an opportunity for a Patient Access Representative/Therapy Services.

This position is per diem, non-exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $25.62 - $30.93/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.


  • Tracks patients to determine continued and appropriate insurance eligibility and benefit period
  • Reviews pre-authorization intake information to identify potential resource costs, and communicate findings to therapycare team;
  • Verify patient’s current insurance to ensure continuity of coverage
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance reimbursement
  • Maintains an accurate list of all therapy evaluations and assessments for the correct reference dates throughout patientscare, to ensure the accurate and timely submission of the required re- assessments
  • Track therapy authorization times and keep staff aware of pending recertification requirements, facilitating any payorspecific requests for information

  • The Patient Access Representative/Therapy Services is a key point of contact for establishing and maintaining required patient relationships to ensure the billing and coding information is obtained and compiled during the course of therapy treatment per current compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitates the process associated with intake activity such as order entry, establishment of correct encounter
  • Monitors the order queue to ensure timely and correct scheduling of orders per service line and therapist availability
  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and ability to schedule outpatient appointments effectively and according to applicable policy & procedure. Knowledge of hospital wide scheduling systems.
  • Key individual responsible for rehabilitation scheduling process as well as wheelchair evaluation clinic. Keeps current on all SHCIS advances and seeks to update current scheduling system to assure enhanced efficiency in our processing and data management/entry.
  • Facilitates the process associated with intake activity such as order entry and required supportive documentation for initial and continued insurance coverage for therapy services until discharge.
  • Communicates various types of therapy benefit information related to patients, therapists, referring physicians, insurance companies and others; verbally and in report format.
  • Performs audits, daily reconciliations and compiles productivity reports from SCHIS for monthly submissions to the Director of Rehabilitation.

Required:

High School Diploma / GED.

Bilingual in Spanish

Preferred:

Associates Degree in a Related Field

Experience in an outpatient PT, OT, ST environments.
