Medication Aide - Optum

Optum is seeking a Medication Aide to join our dedicated healthcare team. As a Medication Aide, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients by assisting with medication administration and monitoring. As a Medication Aide, you will work under the supervision of a licensed nurse and be responsible for administering medications, following established protocols and procedures. Additionally, you will play a vital role in providing emotional support and comfort to patients during medication administration.

This position requires strong attention to detail, as you will be responsible for accurately documenting medication administration and ensuring that patients receive the correct dosage. You must also possess excellent communication skills, as you will be interacting with patients, their families, and the healthcare team on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications to patients in accordance with established protocols and procedures
• Document medication administration accurately and promptly
• Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications
• Communicate with the healthcare team regarding any changes in patients' conditions or medications
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing, as needed
• Provide emotional support and comfort to patients during medication administration
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of patients

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Current Medication Aide certification
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Experience in a similar healthcare role is preferred
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of electronic medical record systems is a plus
