Seeking an external communications professional responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with senior-level stakeholders, external business and industry partners, and key traditional and social media organizations to help tell the story of Delta's digital transformation and how the airline is delivering a more personalized, tailored customer experience throughout the journey.

Reports to a General Manager, Corporate Communications, and works closely with a team to carry out necessary communications programs and strategies to build Delta's reputation as a customer-centric airline driven by an innovative, sustainable, and employee-focused culture.

This individual acts as strategic communications counsel to Delta leaders to support overall communication strategy, partner relationships, corporate announcements and brand activations. Develops and executes communication plans based on brand needs and direction from the Senior Manager. This includes managing programs and projects from concept to delivery that tell the airline's customer experience stories internally and externally via top-tier and niche traditional and social channels, assisting with message development for leaders on key communications issues/events, contributing to corporate employee communications vehicles and serving as a spokesperson for the airline. Must be nimble and work collaboratively in developing cross-divisional plans, events and activations for high-profile announcements and thought leadership opportunities. Practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Minimum of five years of media relations/corporate communications or journalism experience required, including day-to-day relationships with executives and news media.
  • Strong, proven project management skills are preferred.
  • Keen knowledge steeped in entertainment and culture; a sharp focus on varied storytelling platforms.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Strong analytical and negotiation skills preferred.
  • Should possess in-depth experience with project management.
  • Should have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employee groups.
  • Must have a high degree of initiative and the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines as required independently or within a team.
  • Must have a proven track record of developing trust and relationships among peers and leaders to successfully implement projects in a cross-functional, matrixed organization.
  • Must be curious, proactive, highly motivated, people oriented and reliable.
  • Must be flexible in dealing with changing priorities. Some travel required. Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential.
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Corporate and employee communications experience preferred.
  • Proven creative social and traditional media planning is a plus.
  • Tech and/or airline industry experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of consumer tech industry, specifically in the areas of connectivity, entertainment and social media.
  • Experience working on high-profile industry events, including on-site staffing and support.
  • Ability to lead and work both independently and collaboratively, excelling in a cross-functional environment.
  • High degree of initiative and attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
