Contractual Language Analyst

Job Description:

The FBI is looking for skilled speakers of Spanish, Persian-Farsi, Pashto-Afghani, Arabic, Ukrainian, French, Haitian Creole, Somali, and Hindi, who would be willing to work as contract linguists. These individuals will not be employed directly, but will still play an important role in providing essential services. Contract linguists at the FBI use their knowledge of different languages and cultures to assist in counterintelligence threats, corruption cases, cybercrime, human trafficking, espionage and other crimes. By doing so, they could uncover valuable intelligence that could prevent terrorist attacks and ultimately save American lives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Convert written or audio materials, usually from a foreign language to English.
• While conducting interviews, training sessions, or hosting visits from foreign dignitaries, it is important to convey meaning accurately to ensure effective communication.
• Utilizing my cultural expertise, I can assist in various investigations by providing insights into the cultural background and beliefs of the individuals involved.
• Give your testimony in the court about the interpreted materials presented.
• Aid secret operatives in conducting diverse interviews.
• The job entails working at a field office, although there may be instances where travel to other field offices or legal attachés is necessary to provide support for cases.

Key Requirments:

In order to qualify for the contract linguist position, there are specific requirements that must be met:

• Show your language competence by earning satisfactory scores on the FBI's Foreign Language Test Battery.
• Being a U.S. Citizen is required.
• The attainment of Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance is compulsory.
• Ready to undertake travel obligations as needed.
• Compliance with the Employment Qualification Standards of the FBI is mandatory.
