Medication Technician - Optum

As a Medication Technician at Optum, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and accurate administration of medication to patients. Your compassion, attention to detail, and commitment to patient care will contribute to the overall well-being of our patients.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications to patients according to prescribed dosage and schedule
• Verify patient information, medications, and dosages prior to administering
• Document medication administration and any related observations or reactions
• Maintain accurate medication inventory and assist with restocking as needed
• Monitor patient vital signs and report any significant changes to the nursing staff
• Help educate patients and their families on medication usage, potential side effects, and proper storage
• Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a clean and sterile environment
• Assist with other clinical tasks and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification as a Medication Technician
• Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred
• Knowledge of medication administration best practices and protocols
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software systems quickly
