Job Description:

The Technical Operations (Tech Ops) Performance Consultant delivers on our Purpose by developing new insights into Tech Ops performance and creating effective measures and methods of analysis to better understand and improve the core process of our aircraft maintenance systems. This role will work with various data platforms such as Maintenix, Kronos, Teradata, and Oracle to complete projects that help build and maintain a competitive advantage for the Company. The Tech Ops Performance Consultant is a self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills which they’ll utilize to connect with various workgroups and Senior Leaders.

Responsibilities
  • Continuously studies Industry and Company performance standards and the latest process and system measures to understand how they may apply to Southwest Airlines
  • Evaluates performance looking for opportunities and challenges across Tech Ops to improve key aspects of our Operation.
  • Addresses any issues with data ownership, duplicate data sources, and poor data definitions, standards, methods of analysis, and process measures
  • Takes the lead to replace outdated measures and methods with more tangible and relevant ones when necessary or available
  • Works with all levels of leadership to manage and prioritize opportunities for performance improvement
  • Provides Team leadership in the technical design and development of core system improvement studies and ensures new processes and measures are consistent with existing Industry, Company and department performance methods and measures
  • Leads the creation and communication of results from complex studies, data analysis and modeling
  • Analyzes and estimates the time and resources needed to develop and implement new methods and measures for system-wide improvement for projects
  • Prepares users of new methods of analysis and measures by creating documentation, conducting training, and leading team members on various high priority projects
  • Partners with cross-functional teams of Analysists, Consultants, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Developers to determine the need for new data collection methods, measures, and methods of analysis.
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in both inductive and deductive reasoning and problem solving approaches
  • Proficient in business intelligence tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, and Quick Base
  • Proficient in accessing technology data platforms and self-service data assets such as IDF’s EDW and IDW as well as local team Quick Base applications
  • Knowledgeable in data integration methodologies and tools
  • Knowledgeable in which existing Tech Ops Performance metrics to apply when measuring performance
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate a process or system and create an effective measure of performance for future use
  • Ability to understand what drives Tech Ops performance and find undiscovered insights to improve divisional and Company performance
  • Ability to understand the relationships and feedback loops between a multitude of key Operational processes as they relate to Tech Ops from a process and system thinking perspective
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate which analytic methods or statistical techniques are appropriate for which type of business problem and make recommendations for sustained operational improved performance
  • Ability to devise new methods of analysis or apply existing industry proven methods of analysis for new performance problems such as 6 Sigma, TQM, Lean, etc.
  • Ability to structure and organize large sets of data and in order to conduct advanced level analysis
  • Ability to derive patterns and analysis from both structured and unstructured data
  • Ability to lead highly complex performance management and/or compliance or performance projects including developing and articulating a coherent vision and roadmap to achieve that vision
  • Effective in advising at all levels of Tech Ops leadership on performance management and data integration projects
  • Ability to effectively lead performance management and analyst teams without direct positional authority
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in an engaging way with strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences up to and including functional, senior, and executive leaders
  • Ability to work on issues of diverse scope and make sound decisions
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and achieve productivity in an unstructured environment through thoughtful question-asking, self-structuring, creative ingenuity, and self-management
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree

Experience
  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
    • Performance reporting and maintaining performance dashboards
    • Applying advanced analytics
    • Running Process Improvement projects
    • Development using Alteryx, Tableau, Quick Base or another business intelligence application
    • Aviation or Technical Operations experience
    • Project and/or Program Management
  • Proficient in the following technical applications:
    • SQL - Oracle, Teradata or equivalent
    • Alteryx
    • Tableau
    • Quick Base
    • Excel

Licensing/Certification
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all requirements with SIDA badge

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
