Summary:


Plans, directs, implements, and evaluates overall development, management, and successful administration of Behavioral Health units throughout assigned region.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Planning, organizing and development of Behavioral Health functions Services within CHS-affiliated organizations including, but not limited to:

    • Financial, Administrative operations

    • Supervision of Behavioral Health leadership

    • Consultation to Hospital leadership

    • Business Development

    • Strategic Planning related to program quality measures, internal and external growth


  • Ensuring accepted standards of clinical care and oversight of licensing, regulatory compliance and quality assurance

    • Participate in policy development and implementation

    • Subject matter expert relating to regulatory preparation and responses

    • Actively coordinates the review of medical records, audits and standards

    • Actively engages with Hospital quality and risk leadership on quality goals


  • Functions under the direction of the Behavioral Health Department but in concert with assigned Hospital Leadership.

  • Routinely conduct on-site and/or remote evaluation and support of program management, regulatory/accreditation compliance, performance/outcomes improvement, and patient safety.

  • Prepares a detailed site visit report documenting observations and recommendations that will be submitted to the Hospital CEO, Division and Behavioral Health Department.

  • Identifies, ensures and participates in the development and revision of policies, procedures, processes, protocols and standards of care, incorporating conditions of participation, state regulations, and Best Practice and disseminates changes to Directors

  • Maintains knowledge of management, leadership, motivational, time management, change theories which apply to Behavioral Health services

  • Ensures/directs as appropriate sales/marketing plans/strategies/ that will enhance/build relationships with new and existing customers throughout the region

  • Will serve as a resource in the development of a start-up Behavioral Health unit(sEnsures standardization of policies, procedures, and processes of each agency to promote efficient operations throughout the region

  • Assist Hospital Leadership in budget preparation for the Behavioral Health service line. Reviews/analyzes financial performance of each unit and makes recommendations to Hospital Leadership as needed to maintain financial integrity

  • Participates in the hiring with Hospital Leadership to identify and maintain a qualified, well organized professional leader for each unit.

  • Maintains ongoing liaison between assigned Facilities and Regional Presidents/Vice Presidents.

  • Provides guidance and counseling to Directors to improve performance, correct problems, and stimulate professional growth per policy and procedures

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates current Behavioral Health standards for the Hospital to assure quality, cost-effective patient care and staff satisfaction

  • Monitors and Ensures effective utilization of equipment and human resources within the Behavioral Health unit, suggesting and implementing recommendations for cost control

  • Complies with corporate and departmental policies and procedures

Reasoning Ability:


Ability to define problems, collect/analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Computer Skills:


To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; PowerPoint Spreadsheet software and Database software. Have skills (or obtain skills within a reasonable time) to support Behavioral Health staff and other leaders in the use/troubleshooting of quality/operational software within the acute care setting (Examples: Documentation, EMR, Event reporting, etc.).

  • Travel may well require long travel times (often greater than 4 hours).

  • Travel and other work activities will likely require the employee to frequently lift and transport objects (luggage, computer bags, training materials, manuals, etc.) up to 25lbs or greater.

  • Typical work travel will often spans over 3 days or more away from home and outside the employee's immediate home area

  • Employee must be able to travel independently for frequent/extensive business travel.

  • The employee will be frequently exposed to public (airports/hotels/etc.) as well as healthcare environments

Certificates and Licenses:


  • RN, LCSW, LPC or licensure in related field

  • Current driver's license/automobile insurance

Education/Experience:


  • Master's degree in a Healthcare related field; MHA/MBA preferred

  • 7 years Behavioral Health experience in Hospital and multi-facility management.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Federal and State laws, guidelines pertaining to The Joint Commission, Medicare and Medicaid, and other insurance and payer sources.

  • Ability to lead and motivate people to achieve growth and quality targets.

  • Sustainable ability to effectively communicate with Hospital Leadership

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Willingness to be flexible to new and changing situations.
