Certified Pharmacist
Job Title: Staff Pharmacist
Overview: As a Staff Pharmacist, you will be an integral part of the healthcare team, responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications in patient care. This role combines clinical expertise with exceptional customer service, as you interact with patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical services. Whether dispensing medications, counseling patients on proper medication use, or collaborating with healthcare professionals, your contributions as a Staff Pharmacist will be essential in promoting optimal patient outcomes and medication safety.
Responsibilities:
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately dispense prescription medications in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, verifying medication orders, dosage instructions, and patient information.
- Medication Review: Review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions or contraindications, consulting with prescribers as needed to ensure safe and effective therapy.
- Patient Counseling: Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients, including information on drug indications, dosages, administration instructions, side effects, and precautions.
- Medication Therapy Management: Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy for patients, conducting medication therapy reviews, monitoring therapeutic outcomes, and recommending adjustments as needed.
- Drug Information: Serve as a drug information resource for healthcare providers, patients, and other stakeholders, answering questions about drug therapy, medication safety, and pharmaceutical products.
- Clinical Services: Provide clinical pharmacy services, such as anticoagulation management, immunizations, and medication reconciliation, to enhance patient care and improve medication outcomes.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in medication safety initiatives and quality improvement activities, including medication error reporting, adverse drug event monitoring, and pharmacy quality assurance programs.
- Inventory Management: Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and maintaining appropriate levels of medications and supplies to meet patient needs and regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards of practice, maintaining accurate records and documentation of pharmacy operations.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive pharmacy experience for all stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
- Licensure: Current licensure as a pharmacist in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Clinical Skills: Strong clinical knowledge and proficiency in pharmaceutical therapeutics, pharmacology, and pharmacy practice guidelines.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex medical information to patients and healthcare providers.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing and documentation.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze medication-related issues and develop effective solutions.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and collaboratively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ethical Conduct: Adherence to ethical principles and professional standards of conduct in all aspects of pharmacy practice, including patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in pharmacy computer systems, electronic health records (EHR), and other healthcare information technology platforms.
- Continuing Education: Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development, including participation in continuing education programs, pharmacy conferences, and professional organizations.
